The plant is considered the largest waste water treatment plant in Africa and Middle East. It treats 2.5 million cubic meters per day.
The treated water is used to irrigate 150,000 feddans in addition of biogas production through advanced Anaerobic Process (Sludge Digester) which contributes 60% of electrical power required to operate the plant.
This contract includes the plant with Anaerobic Process (Digester) method, which consist of lift station with a capacity of 500.000 cubic meter per day. The station includes entrances, manual and mechanical filters, two lifting stations for purification tanks, 48 primary and final sedimentation basins, 16 Soncentration basins, two sludge lifting stations, 4 biological aeration, 14 chlorine mixing basins, 30 lifting stations for return and excess sludge, sludge tanks, drying basins, and two fuel tanks, 10 Power stations with a capacity 2.32 megawatts and the water outlet duct to the emergency channel, in addition to the buildings for the necessary services for the station.
