Improved Water and Wastewater Services Programme, IWSP 1 (Phase 2), Egypt

CES Consulting Engineers Salzgitter GmbH, Germany, AAW Consulting Engineers, Egypt and EGIS, France have formed a Joint Venture to provide Consultancy Services for the project of ” Improved Water & Wastewater Services Programme, IWSP 1 – Phase II” with a budget of 300 million Euros funded by European Development Partners (KfW, EU, EIB and AFD), led by the Kreditanstalt Fur Weideraufbau (KfW), and the Egyptian Government. 

The project foresees the implementation of wastewater collection and treatment systems for the governorates of Gharbia, Sharkia, Damietta and Beheira comprising 54 Villages and 3 cities with a total population of 1,207,383 (cap.). The related wastewater sewer networks comprise different pipe diameters varying from DN 160 to DN 1000 (mm) with a total pipe length of 433.4 km. 

Furthermore, the project includes the construction of two Wastewater Treatment Plants equipped with the Extended Aeration Activities Sludge System (EAAS): El Sawaleh WWTP (Sharkia Governorate) with a capacity of 44,000 m3/d and Beltag WWTP (Gharbia Governorate) with a capacity of 6,500 m3/d.
