Dhamar - Al-Hussainiyah Road (254), Yemen

The Ministry of Public Works and Highways (MPWH) on behalf of the Government of Yemen adopted a wide program for infrastructure and transport improvement to serve its main goal of social and economic development. One of these projects among the Program of Road Development is the construction of Dhamar - Al-Hussainiyah Road (254 km approx.), which is comprising a main part of the primary route of the country, as part of the rural access improvement program project initiated by the (MPWH) aiming at improving the livelihood & reducing the isolation of the rural population in Yemen.
 
The objective of the project is to build a new asphalt road on the existing track satisfying safety conditions and providing efficient traffic operation; and to create a transportation link joining the villages, and communities located on the route. The road is 254km long, 6m wide, with additional 1 m gravel shoulder on each side. Starting 2012 the client divided the roads into 4 sectors and assigned each sector to a separate Contractor.
